They gave me a pregnant rescue dog, without telling me she was pregnant. Didnt help with any processes of having the puppies or how to take care of them properly (unless snarky remarks were suppose to help.) Then I asked for a possibly of discounted shots for the puppies to maybe help the sting of previous mess up on their part. They said were trying to run a business here. So I took my business to Gateway Veterinary Services and they are unreal!
I found the male vet, who felt he needed to tell me that he has been one for 40 years, was rude and unpersonable. I inquired about vaccines for my dog, in particular the distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine and if it was possible for an owner to get the three year vaccine at their clinic. I don't like to overvaccinate my dog. He proceeded to tell me that there is no such thing. Research papers I have read show that this vaccine can cover up to five years safely but companies like to protect themselves and say to vaccinate an adult dog at least every three years. My dog is ten, has had all of his proper puppy vaccines and when I worked in Montana as a vet tech my dog received a two year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine and a three year rabies vaccine. Once I moved to Kelowna and my dog was due for vaccines the majority of clinics I called offered three year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccines along with a three year rabies vaccine. When I tried to tell him this he just walked away. The vet tech then tried to tell me that maybe it had to do with the region we lived in. This has nothing to do with the region we are living in. Yes, different drug companies may have different dates on the validity of their vaccines but I was disappointed that a vet, who apparently has 40 years of experience, told me that there is no such thing as three year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine when clinics in Montana and B.C are giving dogs them. Sounds like a money grab to me trying to get people to come in more often than they need to and perhaps the vet needs to get with the times and do some research.
Awesome vet !! Honest and excellent care for our sad dog with porcupine quills.
Took my puppy in with an egg sized abses ,gave us antibiotics and sent us home. Month later I take him in to another vet because the abses is still there. That vet asks why the hell did he drain it !?!? So now I've paid a couple hundred dollars to keep my pet sick for another month.
Very friendly and professional good with pets
